Insemination along with inducing ovulation is the first stage of assisted reproduction and is quite effective in women under 40 who do not have unexplained infertility.

  • The injection can be combined with ovulation induction or in the natural cycle.

  • The induction of ovulation consists of the administration of an antiestrogenic preparation during the period, then we monitor the maturation of the ovaries by ultrasound and determine the day of insemination.

 

How is insemination done and where?

Insemination is done at the practice level , after the sperm has been processed in a laboratory, you place it inside the uterus. This can improve the male infertility factor.

 

How long does insemination last? It hurts;

The process takes time about 4 - 5 minutes and the woman may feel a slight discomfort due to the forceps that are placed to pass the cervix.

 

Is insemination done on a specific day?

Of course, the day of ovulation is determined by ultrasound monitoring of the ovaries or 36 to 48 hours after the injection that causes a safe ovulation.

 

If it does not work can it be repeated?

Insemination can be repeated up to 6 times.

 

Does it have any side effects?

No, insemination has no side effects, while during the induction of ovulation that precedes the woman can experience very mild side effects.

It is generally a procedure before which light hormones are administered to induce ovulation while it is quite simple. The right time to do so greatly affects its success.

 

I have had an insemination, what else should I do?

Nothing is usually done a pregnancy test 15 days later.
